Dollar General Expands into Three New States

Grand opening celebrations in Oregon, Maine and Rhode Island expands major retailer’s presence to 43 states

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- This morning, Dollar General (NYSE: DG) marked another significant milestone in its company growth by celebrating new store grand openings in Oregon, Maine and Rhode Island, expanding the major retailer’s presence to 43 states.

To commemorate these special occasions, grand opening celebrations were held at each of the following new stores in which customers received complimentary gift cards, tote bags, prizes, special offers and other giveaways.

  • 33 Elm St. in North Berwick, Maine
  • 94 S.E. Main St. in Winston, Oregon
  • 1300 Easy St. in Brookings, Oregon
  • 567 Main Rd. in Tiverton, Rhode Island
  • 1548 Broad St. in Cranston, Rhode Island

Dollar General also gives its customers more than everyday low prices on basic merchandise. Dollar General is deeply involved in the communities it serves and is an ardent supporter of literacy and education. At the cash register of every Dollar General store, customers interested in learning how to read, speak English or get their General Education Diploma (GED) can pick up a brochure with a postage-paid reply card that can be mailed in for a referral to a local organization that offers free literacy services. Stores in Maine and Rhode Island will be served by its Bethel, Pennsylvania distribution center that celebrated its grand opening in May 2014 and Oregon stores plan to be served by its Lebec, California distribution center that opened in April 2012.
