Major retailer offers an 11-percent discount to service members, veterans and their families

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Dollar General (NYSE:DG) is celebrating Veterans Day by offering military service members, veterans and their families a special 11-percent discount on both in-store and online purchases at www.dollargeneral.com on November 11.

“Dollar General is happy to offer this discount to our veterans and to the men and women currently serving in our military and their families,” said Dave D’Arezzo, Dollar General’s executive vice president and CMO. “At Dollar General our mission is Serving Others and we are committed to supporting those who serve our country. Helping these veterans and military families stretch their budgets and enjoy great savings is a way to honor their service and commemorate Veterans Day.”

Dollar General has a deep commitment to supporting veterans. The company has been instrumental in the creation of “Paychecks for Patriots,” an innovative partnership between state government and private sector employers to address veteran unemployment challenges. The program was created by Dollar General partnering with the Tennessee Departments of Labor, Military and Veterans Affairs to create a pathway toward economic opportunity for veterans and their families both online and through hiring fairs. Since its inception last year, Dollar General has expanded the “Paychecks for Patriots” program to Florida, Georgia and completed a second hiring event in Tennessee. In recognition of Veterans Day, Dollar General will highlight the “Paychecks for Patriots” program with a special decal on the No. 20 Dollar General Toyota driven by Drew Herring in the NASCAR Nationwide Series ServiceMaster 200 on November 9 and by Matt Kenseth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series AdvoCare 500 on November 10 at Phoenix International Speedway.
